The Dallas Stars may not be interested in off-loading young talent for a shot at the Stanley Cup this season, but that doesn’t mean General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk intends to sit back an do nothing before the February 27th trade deadline.
Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News suggested Brandon Dubinsky of the New York Rangers could be a solid trade deadline acquisition for the Stars.
“He’s a player I would definitely look at. Derek Stepan has taken his minutes, and Dubinsky is sort of floating around right now. I would definitely inquire. Same with Mason Raymond in Vancouver. He’s been pushed aside by David Booth and could be a good fit in Dallas.”
The Rangers may not be that enthusiastic about shipping Dubinsky out of town, but Raymond is rumored to be on the trade block for the Canucks. Vancouver General Manager Mike Gillis is said to be interested in adding a bottom-six forward to his team.
